That’s great. Here are a few suggestions and answers to help you move forward with your idea.

Employed

To move on with your idea you need to be employed by an EPICUR university. This is because all EPICUR courses have to be validated by their host university.

Priority  Areas

EPICUR offers courses in these 5 interdisciplinary priority areas:

European Values refers to ideals, beliefs, and norms that are considered to be fundamental to European societies and their cultural, social and political development. While there is no definitive list of European values, some of the most commonly recognised values include Human rights, Democracy, Diversity and Tolerance, and Solidarity.

Sustainable Transformation denotes the endeavour of creating and ensuring a viable future by anticipating the need for, and realising, profound shifts in economic, social and environmental systems. This involves transitioning to more sustainable living and business practices that account for the planet’s finite resources and seeks to minimise environmental impact, while ensuring social equity and economic development.

Global Health refers to the science and practice of addressing health challenges, protecting and improving well-being, and achieving equity in health outcomes on a global scale through the promotion of healthy behaviours, the prevention and control of diseases and injuries, and the assurance of access to high-quality healthcare products and services.

Future Intelligence encompasses various fields and areas of study focused on understanding and shaping the future of society, technology, and humanity. A main focus is the creation and evolution of intelligent systems and technologies that remain human-centered and serve the needs of society.

Transversal Skills, also known as transferable skills or soft skills, are competences that are valuable across different professions, industries, and contexts, which can be applied and transfered to various situations and environments. This includes digital competences, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, leadership, cultural competence, and entrepreneurship among others.

Does your idea fit in one or more of these areas?

If it is not obvious to you how your idea will fit in one of the priority areas, you can discuss it with your university’s Institutional Coordinator and register on Who is Who? on the EPiC TLC.

This may lead to finding other educators interested in collaborating with you on developing your idea into an EPICUR course. We recommend developing EPICUR courses in collaboration with one or more educator/s from other EPICUR universities

Course Validation

At this point it would be good to find out if your department will support you developing and validating an EPICUR course. If they won’t, then you could look for an educator from another EPICUR university who could validate and co-develop such a course with you. You can do this by entering a search request in the CoTeachConnector on the EPiC TL, and you can contact your university’s Institutional Coordinator and ask for them to help find a collaborator.

Funding

If you think you will need funding to pay for your time to develop an EPICUR course, talk with your university’s Institutional Coordinator as there may be funding available from your university and take a look at the list of external funding options listed on the EPiC TLC.
