Featured Hubs Course: Issues of Environment and Sustainability

Rosa, Kirsten [xn1335@kit.edu] - 8. Apr 2025, 10:43
This interdisciplinary course is designed for early career researchers to explore pressing environmental and sustainability challenges through a transdisciplinary perspective. Covering key topics such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), natural resource management, and digital innovation, the course dives into both theoretical foundations and practical applications. Participants will engage with concepts like ecological and water footprints, planetary health, and the Human Development Index, while examining social, economic, and philosophical perspectives on sustainability. Specialized lectures address the transformative potential of agritourism, the complexities of environmental justice, and pathways for decarbonizing mobility. By integrating scientific, philosophical, and policy-based approaches, the course equips researchers with tools to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.
The course is offered in the form of joint lecture series by teachers from four different EPICUR universities (AUTh, UvA, SDU, KIT).
"Building a sustainable future begins with understanding the complex interactions between people, planet, and progress."
-- Prof. Dr. Nikolaos Theodosiou, Course Facilitator and Co-Coordinator of the EPICUR Sustainable Transformation Hub
